Poland's gross domestic product probably rose 3.1% or more in the second quarter on an annual basis, top government aide Michal Boni reportedly said Wednesday.
In an interview with the Dziennik daily, he said the growth in the second quarter was driven mainly by exports. The economy expanded 3% in the first quarter. The statistical office is due to release second quarter GDP data on August 30.
Poland is the only European Union country to have avoided recession in the past two years. Th economy expanded 1.7% last year. But, the country's budget deficit widened to 7.1% of GDP in 2009 from 3.7% in 2008.
