The Japanese yen edged higher across the board on Thursday morning in New York as some weak economic data from the U.S. today prompted traders to seek safe-haven assets.
The yen is currently trading at new multi-day highs of 82.86 against the Swiss franc, 84.91 versus the US dollar and 76.0 against the Australian dollar.
The yen also advanced to a 2-day high of 81.94 against the Canadian dollar, 60.20 versus the New Zealand dollar and 109.28 against the euro.
Against the pound, the yen reached as high as 132.86 before holding steady around 10:05 am ET, up from its previous session's 3-day low of 134.07.
