Swedish retail sales increased in July from the previous month, a report by the Statistics Sweden showed on Friday.
Retail sales rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.5% month-on-month in July, compared to a 0.2% fall in the previous month. Economists had expected an increase of 1%.
Year-on-year, retail sales volume increased a working day adjusted 2% in July, but slower than a 2.8% growth in the previous month. Economists were looking for an increase of 1.1%. A year ago, retail sales were up 3.9%.
Retail trade in consumer non-durables increased 2% annually in July and in durable goods rose 2.7% after adjusting for the number of working days. At current prices, retail sales rose 2.1% year-on-year compared to 4.2% growth in the previous month.
