Slovenian economy expanded in the second quarter after contracting in the first quarter, official data showed Tuesday. The gross domestic product, or GDP, increased a seasonally and working day adjusted 1.1% sequentially in the second quarter, following a 0.1% decline in the first quarter, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia said.
The non-seasonally adjusted GDP rose 2.2% annually during the June quarter, compared to 1.1% decline in the first quarter. The positive GDP growth was recorded after six consecutive quarters of contractions.
On a seasonally and working day adjusted basis, GDP rose 1.5% year-on-year. During the first half, GDP increased 0.6% compared to the same period last year.
During the second quarter, the jobless rate was at 7.1%, unchanged from the previous quarter. During the period, there were 74,000 unemployed persons in the country. The number of employed persons totaled 968,000.
