Italy's consumer price measure of inflation slowed to 1.6% in August from 1.8% in June, statistical office Istat said on Tuesday. Economists had forecast an inflation rate of 1.7%.
Consumer prices rose 0.2% compared to July, in line with forecasts.
At the same time, the harmonized measure of inflation rose 1.8% on a yearly basis and was up 0.2% on a monthly basis.
