Chile's jobless rate dropped in the three months through July from the previous period.
The jobless rate dropped to 8.3% in the three months ended in July from 8.5% in the three months ended in June, a report by the National Institute of Statistics showed on Tuesday. Economists had expected a rate of 8.5%.
The Chilean economy grew at the strongest pace in three quarters during the April to June period. Gross domestic product, or GDP, grew 6.5% year-on-year in the second quarter, much faster than the 1.5% growth seen in the previous quarter. Annual inflation increased in July. The consumer price inflation rose to 2.3% from 1.2% in the previous month.
