Total production of Serbia's industrial sector grew 5.1% year-on-year in July, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia said Tuesday.
Production in mining and quarrying industry rose 15.3% from last year and manufacturing output was up 5.9%. Production and supply of electricity, gas and water, however, declined 1.6%.
Production of intermediate goods, excluding energy, grew 16.6% year-on-year, while energy output rose 2.6%. Output in non-durables recorded an annual growth, while production in durables and capital goods posted a decline.
At the same time, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index rose 1.7% compared to June.
Separately, the statistical office reported that the country's exports, in terms of euro, increased 20.8% year-on-year in July, while imports rose 7.3%. The seasonally adjusted index showed that exports fell 5.4% month-on-month and imports decreased 4.7%.
The total foreign trade turnover increased 10% year-on-year during the January to July period and the trade deficit decreased 9.7% to EUR 2.96 billion during the seven months.
From January to July, exports increased 19.6% in terms of value expressed in euro and imports grew 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
Another release from the statistical agency showed that the retail prices increased 7.9% year-on-year in August and rose 1% on a monthly basis. Year-to-date, prices recorded a 7.2% growth.
Consumer prices in Serbia increased 6.3% year-on-year in August while recording a 1.7% growth on a monthly basis. During the January to August period, prices advanced 4.4%.
