Hong Kong industrial output increased in the second quarter from the previous year.

The industrial production for manufacturing industries increased 2.2% year-on-year in the second quarter, compared to the 0.4% fall in the previous quarter, the Census and Statistics Department said on Monday.

Similarly, the industrial price i producer ndex grew 5.9% annually in the second quarter, faster than a 4% rise in the first quarter.

Industrial output for sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased 2.8% in the second quarter from the previous year, following a 2.5% rise in the first quarter. The corresponding producer price index increased to 5.6% in the second quarter from 2.6% rise in the previous quarter, the statistical office said.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, industrial production remained unchanged in the second quarter compared to the preceding quarter.

Separately, the statistical office said the nominal construction production increased 7.3% year-on-year to HK$ 28 billion in the second quarter. In real terms, the total gross value of construction works performed by main contractors grew 4.6%.
