Home sales in Spain jumped 17.5% month-on-month to just over 43,800 in July, the National Statistics Institute said on Monday.

On a yearly basis, home sales surged 16.4%. Around 90% of all house sales were free housing and the rest were protected housing.

The total number of property transfers increased 5.2% from the previous year to just below 168,700. Property transfers were 8.4% more than the figure recorded in June.

The total number of property transfers per 100,000 inhabitants were the highest in La Rioja and Aragon.
