Lithuania's current account balance logged a deficit in July from the previous month.

The current account deficit totaled LTL 340.6 million in July, compared to a LTL 195.6 million surplus in the previous month, the central bank said on Monday. This was mainly due to increase in foreign trade deficit.

The trade deficit widened to LTL 915.8 million in July from LTL 411.4 million in the previous month. Exports of goods decreased by 2.2% on a monthly basis in July, while imports of goods increased 8%.

For the January to July period, the current account balance showed a surplus of LTL 162 million, smaller than LTL 228.7 million surplus in the same period of a year ago.
