Germany's industry body VDMA on Monday raised its estimate for machinery production this year to 6%, as order intake was extraordinarily good in recent months.
The lobby said exports increased in the first half of 2010 by a price-adjusted 3.5%. Now, the strong impetus is coming from American and Asian developing countries, said VDMA Director Hannes Hesse.
In July, capacity utilization averaged 82.9% compared to 69.2% recorded during the same period of last year.
