Lithuania's current account surplus increased to LTL 1.17 billion or 4.8% of GDP during the second quarter from LTL 190.03 million in the first quarter, Bank of Lithuania said Monday.
Financial account balance showed a deficit of LTL 1.8 billion during the period, higher than the LTL 834.7 million deficit recorded during the first quarter. The negative financial account balance is a sign of increased savings and falling foreign investment in Lithuania, the central bank said.
Capital account balance showed a surplus of LTL 698.49 million in the June quarter, up from the LTL 610.22 million posted during the first quarter. Foreign investment in Lithuania resulted in a net outflow of LTL 2.2 billion compared to net inflow of LTL 456.9 million in the first quarter.
