Bitcoin is inching closer to reaching a record territory, trailing last week's advances, as it climbed to 2.1% at $2,573.
The virtual currency scored gains on Monday amid the absence of any catalyst. The surge is deemed the continuation of the increase that came in the previous week following China's three largest exchange operators allowed bitcoin withdrawal again.
So far, bitcoin is up 172% this year.
