South Africa's wholesale sales fell in May after rising in the previous month, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Thursday.
Wholesale trade sales fell 0.7 percent year-on-year in May, after a 4.8 percent rise in April. In March, sales declined 2.8 percent.
On a month-on-month basis, wholesale sales decreased 1.4 percent in May, reversing a 1.1 percent gain in the previous month.
In the three months ended May, wholesale sales rose 3.9 percent, compared with 2.5 percent increase in the previous three months.
At the current prices, wholesale sales gained 6.0 percent annually in May and fell 1.0 percent from the previous month.
