UK Markit/CIPS construction PMI data is due at 4:30 am ET Friday. The index is seen rising to 62.3 in April from 61.7 in March.
Ahead of the data, the pound advanced against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 1.3924 against the greenback, 151.97 against the yen, 1.2639 against the franc and 0.8676 against the euro at 4:25 am ET.
