Germany's HCOB Manufacturing PMI climbed to 49.9 in August 2025, up from 49.1 in July, surpassing market predictions set at 48.8, as per preliminary data. This latest figure represents the highest point since June 2022, suggesting the sector is nearing stability. Production experienced solid and accelerated growth, fueled by a significant increase in new factory orders, which rose at the fastest rate since March 2022. Conversely, export sales experienced a slight downturn, marking the first drop in five months, albeit the decline was marginal. Employment in the sector continued to decrease, with the pace of decline accelerating. On the pricing side, input cost inflation continued to ease, aided by declining oil prices and a comparatively strong euro. Lastly, there was a slight improvement in business sentiment within the manufacturing sector compared to the previous month, in contrast to the more subdued outlook in the service sector.
