On Thursday, the BSE Sensex registered a gain of approximately 0.2%, concluding at 80,718. This rise continues the upward momentum from the previous day, fueled by positive sentiment following the GST Council's approval of a major revision to the GST structure. The revamped system places most goods in the 5% and 18% tax brackets, with items like bread and paneer exempt from tax starting September 22. Financial stocks increased by 0.5%, while the automotive and consumer sectors saw rises of 0.9% and 0.2%, respectively. Despite these gains, the market remains cautious ahead of the imminent US jobs report and ongoing foreign capital outflows. Leading the gainers, Mahindra & Mahindra surged by 5.9%, Bajaj Finance rose by 4.2%, Bajaj FinServ increased by 2%, and Trent moved up by 1.4%.
