In August 2025, Serbia's annual inflation rate decreased to 4.7%, a slight decline from July’s peak of 4.9% over the past fifteen months, and marginally below market predictions of 4.8%. The deceleration in price growth was primarily observed in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a rise of 7.8%, down from 8.1% in July; housing and utilities increased by 3.0%, compared to 3.6% the previous month; alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics experienced a climb of 4.7%, lower than July’s 6.5%; clothing and footwear went up by 3.9%, reduced from 4.5%; and recreation and culture recorded a growth of 3.7% as opposed to 4.1% earlier. Conversely, transport costs slightly increased by 0.1%, recovering from a 1.1% fall seen last month. Meanwhile, the prices of miscellaneous goods and services went up by 5.2%, compared to 4.5% previously. On a monthly scale, consumer prices showed a modest uptick of 0.2%, which was less than market expectations of a 0.45% rise and a slowdown from July's 0.6% increase.
