In December 2025, the United States saw its one-year inflation expectations, as reported by the University of Michigan survey, decrease for the fourth consecutive month to 4.2%, marking the lowest point in nearly a year, though slightly exceeding the preliminary estimate of 4.1%. In contrast, the five-year inflation forecast dropped for the second month to 3.2%, nearing a one-year low and aligning with the preliminary figures, down from November's 3.4%.
