Speculative positioning in Nasdaq 100 futures has turned markedly more bullish, with net long positions rising to 20.6K contracts, up sharply from 6.6K previously, according to the latest data released on 03 April 2026 by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The increase of 14.0K contracts in speculative net longs suggests a significant shift in sentiment among traders toward the U.S. tech-heavy index. Such an expansion in bullish positioning often reflects growing confidence in the underlying technology and growth sectors that dominate the Nasdaq 100, as investors position for potential further upside.
While the CFTC data does not explain the drivers behind the move, the jump in net longs underscores an environment in which speculative participants appear more willing to embrace risk in U.S. equity index futures, with the Nasdaq 100 currently at the center of that renewed optimism.
