China’s industrial production year-to-date grew 6.1% in March 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, slipping marginally from February’s 6.3% year-on-year pace. The latest data, updated on 16 April 2026, indicate that while momentum in the industrial sector remains solid, the pace of expansion has moderated slightly.
Both the current and previous readings are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s year-to-date performance with the corresponding period a year earlier. February 2026 showed a 6.3% increase versus February 2025, while March’s 6.1% figure reflects a modest cooling as of March 2026 compared with March 2025.
The data suggest that China’s industrial sector continues to expand at a relatively robust rate, but with early signs of tempering growth as the first quarter of 2026 closes.
