Mexico’s consumer confidence weakened in May 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI), signaling a softer outlook among households compared with the previous month.
The headline PCSI reading declined to 50.97 in May from 54.00 in April 2026, based on data updated on 13 May 2026. On a month-over-month basis, this marks a clear pullback in sentiment, as the index moves further away from the stronger levels seen in April.
The index tracks consumers’ views on current and future economic conditions, personal financial situations, and investment intentions. The May result, assessed against April in the month-over-month comparison, suggests Mexican consumers are turning more cautious as they reassess their economic prospects heading into mid‑2026.
