Pending home sales in the United States slowed slightly in April 2026, with the month-over-month indicator easing to 1.4%, down from a revised 1.7% in March 2026. The latest data, updated on 19 May 2026, reflects a modest loss of momentum in contract signings after a somewhat stronger showing in the prior month.
The indicator measures how the change in pending home sales for a given month compares to the previous month. In this case, April’s 1.4% gain is stacked against March’s 1.7% increase, which itself was measured against February’s levels. While the pace of growth has cooled, the positive reading indicates that pending home sales continued to rise, suggesting that buyer interest remains resilient despite the slight deceleration.
