Mexico’s retail sales climbed 4.4% year-on-year in April 2026, accelerating from a 2.9% increase in March. Robust gains in sales of household appliances, computers, home décor, and second-hand goods (+12.7%), as well as textiles and clothing (+9%) and healthcare products (+8%), more than offset a 5.2% decline in groceries, food, beverages, ice, and tobacco. Meanwhile, sales via online channels, printed catalogues, television, and similar platforms remained strong, advancing 9.3%. On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, retail trade rose 0.8% in April, following an upwardly revised 0.2% increase in the previous month.
