Argentina’s economic activity increased by 0.2% year-on-year in May 2026, following an upwardly revised 1.7% expansion in April. Of the fifteen sectors surveyed, eight registered annual growth. The strongest gains were in mining and quarrying, which surged 15.7%, followed by utilities, up 8.0%. Output in agriculture, livestock, hunting, and forestry also rose, advancing 4.6% compared with a year earlier.
In contrast, seven sectors posted declines. The steepest contraction was in fishing, which fell 29.3%, followed by manufacturing, down 5.6%, and wholesale and retail trade and repair services, which dropped 4.3%. On a month-on-month basis, the Monthly Economic Activity Estimate decreased 0.5% relative to April.
