2014.08.1502:52:08UTC+00Australian dollar climbs after weaker US data

The Australian dollar touched its one-week high following the US jobs report weakened.

On Friday, the Aussie traded at 93.174 US cents, up Thursday’s 92.99 US cents. Yesterday night, the currency peaked at 93.29 US cents, its highest since August 7.

The US Department of Labor said weekly claims for US unemployment benefits escalated by 21,000 to 311,000.

“Australian dollar looks like it won't fall below 93 US cents for the next day or so. We had a weak unemployment number from the US, which pushed all the other currencies back up,” said Ricky Liu, Currency Dealer at Easy Forex.
