Joe Biden criticizes Zuckerberg and Facebook for having too much power

Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden believes that Facebook poses a threat to the US and the entire world. Flows of disinformation and constant personal data leak scandals prompted Biden to criticize Zuckerber’s project. Overall, the politician is discontent with the current legislation which regulates the Internet. He intends to revise the law which protects Facebook and other websites from being held accountable for user content. Moreover, all Democratic candidates paid special attention to this issue in their electoral programs. However, only Biden went far enough with his decision to change legislation. “I’ve never been a big Zuckerberg fan. I think he’s a real problem,” Biden said in an interview with The New York Times. Zuckerberg, in his turn, referred to Section 230 which protects the freedom of speech. According to Zuckerberg, social media gives people the right to express themselves while its representatives are responsible for keeping people safe. “That means deciding what counts as terrorist propaganda, hate speech and more,” the entrepreneur said.
