The European Central Bank's decision to decelerate the pace of its asset purchasing program signifies a confidence in the eurozone economy.
But ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure stressed the bloc still needs a cushion as it will enter a busy electoral year, saying there are political perils within and outside the region. He also said politicians are responsible for controlling such risks.
Although there is no hint of a banking crisis, Coeure mentioned the central bank holds the discretion to draw the economic repercussions; therefore, the need to secure the eurozone until 2017.
