Malta's producer price inflation accelerated to 3.3% year-on-year in July from 3.1% growth in the previous month, the National Statistics Office showed Monday.
Producer prices climbed for the third straight month. A year earlier, producer prices had fallen 2.7%.
Producer prices within the domestic market grew 15.1% annually, mainly due to 22.4% increase in energy prices. Producer prices of capital goods roe 6% and that of consumer goods increased 0.3%. Meanwhile, prices for intermediate goods declined 1.9%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 1.6% in July, after a 2.7% increase in June. Producer prices for the domestic market showed no change on a monthly basis, as the 1.2% price increase in capital goods was partially offset by the 0.5% decline within the intermediate goods. Energy prices remained flat on a monthly basis for the sixth consecutive month.
