The French budget deficit fell to EUR 93.1 billion in July, data from the Budget Ministry showed Wednesday. The expected shortfall for July was EUR 90.2 billion. The deficit totaled EUR 108.8 billion in July 2009.

The general budget revenues increased to EUR 159.7 billion from EUR 133.8 billion in the prior year. Expenses came in at EUR 236.1 billion, compared to EUR 215.2 billion at the end of July 2009. The ministry said the increase in expenditure was broadly in line with the forecast.
