Mexico's global economic indicator increased in August, the statistical agency INEGI said on Wednesday.

Mexico's global economic indicator, or IGAE, increased 7.3% year-on-year in August, faster than the 6.5% rise expected by economists'. In July, indicator was up 5.1%.

The indicator for primary or agricultural activities showed an increase of 5.3% in August, while secondary activities grew 8.1%. Tertiary activities increased 6.4%.

Compared to the previous month, IGAE rose a seasonally adjusted 0.58% in August. The secondary and tertiary activities increased by 0.46% and 0.22% respectively. Primary activities dropped 2.17%.
