French purchasing managers' index for the manufacturing sector slipped to 55.2 in October from 56 in September, latest report from Markit Economics showed Tuesday.
The reading matched economists' forecast and was unchanged from the flash estimate. A PMI reading above 50 indicates expansion of the sector while a reading below 50 suggests contraction.
The new orders grw at the fastest pace for six months in October. Meanwhile, output growth eased to the weakest since August 2009.
