Indonesian mining ministry said the government also has the right to bring Freeport-McMoRan Inc. to arbitration if both parties do not succeed in reaching an agreement over a mining contract, mining minister Ignasius Jonan said.
Freeport's chief executive Richard Adkerson earlier on Monday said the company may begin arbitration if both sides cannot come up with something within 120 days a dispute over its mining contract in the Southeast Asian nation.
