Tech firms issued statements after President Donald Trump revoked protections for transgender students.
Silicon Valley-based firms including Apple, Facebook and Microsoft are speaking against the administration's announcement on Wednesday that it has withdrawn the implemented Obama-era protections for transgender students in public schools, which allowed LGBT students to use bathrooms in line with their gender identity.
Major players in the field expressed their support to the transgender community via official statements and social media posts. Top executives at well-known brands such as Microsoft, Airbnb and Salesforce went to Twitter to clarify their opposition to the reversal of the decision and voiced their support to the trans community.
Majority of these companies also pushed back against a contentious North Carolina law passed last year that prohibited transgender individuals from utilizing public bathrooms for the gender they identify with.
