US President Donald Trump tagged China as the “grand champions” of currency rigging following his new Treasury head vowed to employ a more deliberate method to evaluating the Asian country's foreign exchange schemes.
Trump said Thursday he has not retracted his remark that the country manipulates its own currency, although he did fulfill this campaign promise on his first day as the American leader.
During last year's presidential election, he often allege that the nation keeps the yuan artificially low versus the US dollar to make its exports much less expensive.
Treasury chief Steven Mnuchin, however, mentioned his office was not slated to review China's currency system.
