Saudi Arabia's King Salman, alongside hundreds of executives, is currently in Japan for discussions, which are primarily anticipated to center on economic relations.
The trip is the first by a Saudi king in nearly a decade, although King Salman visited the country more recently as crown prince.
Japan's cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday they will tackle growth strategy, including the country's Saudi Vision project. It pertains to Japanese cooperation with Vision 2030, a roadmap followed by the kingdom for its advancement and economic goals.
He did not validate reports the two countries would strike a deal to establish a distinct economic zone in the Middle East country.
King Salman is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe later in the day.
