A European Central Bank official said policymakers should be inclined to change the existing monetary policy as inflation figures begin to hit targets.
ECB executive board member Sabine Lautenschläger said Monday the loose policy is applicable given present economic reports.
Lautenschläger hopes that data will improve in time for their next scheduled gathering in June. She said policymakers are slated to adjust the monetary policy provided that economic figures are steady and there is a viable path towards their price stability goal.
Inflation has progressed in recent months. But core figures are still less than the ECB's target. Inflation data touched 2% last month, primarily pushed by energy costs.
