Data from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry showed on Wednesday that the country's retail sales rose 0.2 percent in February, missing the 0.3 percent market expectations.
Retails sales added just 0.1 percent on year, falling short of the 0.7 percent estimates, and down from 1.0 percent in the prior month.
Large retailers' sales dropped an annual 2.7% versus forecasts for a fall of 1.8% after sliding 1.1% a month earlier.
