Spain's unemployment increased 1.25 percent or 51,185 from the previous month to 4.13 million in August, the Labour Ministry said Friday. On a yearly basis, the number of unemployed rose 161,266 in August.

The registered unemployment in agriculture dropped 2,467 in August, while it surged 37,707 in services. The increase in construction was 10,392 and that in industry came in at 9,421.

According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in the euro area remained unchanged at 10 percent in July. Spain logged the highest unemployment rate of 21.2 percent.
