The Canadian dollar dwindled following the Trump administration announced it would levy tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber imports.
US commerce chief Wilbur Ross said America would impose charges ranging from 3% to 24% on five Canadian lumber exporters including Tolko Marketing and Sales.
Loonie stood at C$1.3555 to the US dollar on Tuesday, its lowest since December.
