Insee data on Tuesday revealed that France's consumer price index rose an annual 1.2 percent in April.
That was up from the 1.1 percent increase seen in March.
Energy prices soared 9.3 percent, while food prices rose 0.7 percent. Meanwhile, manufactured products fell 0.7 percent.
After rising 0.6 percent in the previous month, consumer prices increased 0.1 percent in April.
At the same time, the harmonized inflation held steady at 1.4 percent in April. Month-on-month, the HICP went up only 0.1 percent. The latest HICP figures confirmed flash data.
