Two European Central Bank policymakers said the eurozone growth may be improving and the central bank's policy will mirror these, but inflation is still feeble and needs to exhibit a compelling upward path before ending the stimulus program.
ECB Vice President Vitor Constancio said Wednesday he and his fellows are fully aware that the overall economic condition is improving, adding they share a unanimous view regarding economic developments.
But he mentioned the labor market slack is still huge, wage growth is unsteady, and economic output will remain below its potential at least until the following year.
For ECB official Peter Praet, removing the current stimulus prematurely could halt or reverse the upward trend in inflation. He said they are noticing a strengthening and more resilient economic recuperation.
The central bank will convene on June 8, in which they are anticipated to change its negative economic outlook and tackle whether to repeal its easing bias.
