Supermarket sales in Japan fell in May, according to the Chain Store Association.
The association's data showed on Wednesday that the adjusted supermarket sales in Japan lost an annual 1.8 percent in May after rising 0.6 percent in the previous month.
Unadjusted sales fell 1.9 percent in May.
Figures showed that supermarket sales rose 1.6 percent monthly.
