Dave Clark told authorities the 2016 car swerved off the roadway after he launched Tesla's Autopilot system, a released statement showed. The vehicle was found flipped on its top and Clark and the other four passengers in the car received minor injuries, according to the police.

In an email statement, Tesla is working on collating the facts of the incident and that the company its giving its full support to the local authorities. The electric car maker added that they have not yet established if the Autopilot feature was activated, stating that there is no reason that the Autopilot system worked against its design.

The stock has risen by around 49 percent this year, boosted by bets of Tesla's cheaper Model 3 sedan beginning production. The car is estimated to have a starting price of $35,000 and will be equipped with the Autopilot hardware.
