Tesla shares advanced by more than 3 percent in the last session after CEO Elon Musk said the automaker would introduce an electric semi-truck later next month.
Shares of Tesla ended the session trading at $377.64, $11.41 higher on the day.
On Wednesday, Musk announced via Twitter that the firm's “unreal” semi-truck was tentatively slated to be revealed in October. Earlier this year, Musk has stated that the semi would be unveiled in September.
The Tesla chief has also already disclosed some details regarding the project. During his speech at the company's annual shareholder meeting in June, the CEO said the carmaker has been working with its largest clients regarding the design of the semi-trucker so they know what Tesla is producing.
The truck is seen to be profitable for Tesla in the long run, namely if it uses automation or self driving technology, according to analyst Colin Rusch from Oppenheimer. He added that the potential market for semi-cab trucks in North America is estimated to be valued by as much as $30 million.
