South Africa's wholesale trade expanded at the fastest pace since July 2013, data from Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.

Wholesale trade advanced 8.9 percent year-on-year in February, following January's 8.7 percent rise. The increase in February was the fastest in seven months.

Month-on-month, wholesale trade climbed 1.1 percent after rising 3.1 percent in January.

Data showed that seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 2.4 percent in the three months ended February compared with the previous three months.
