The number of skilled internet job vacancies in Australia continued to decline in May, a report from the Department of Employment showed on Wednesday.

Internet skilled vacancies decreased 1.3 percent month-over-month in trend terms and 3.6 percent in seasonally adjusted terms in May. This marked the third consecutive month of decline, indicating subdued labour conditions.

The current number of vacancies are 59.2 percent less than the March 2008 peak.

After seasonal adjustments, a month-on-month decline in all of the eight occupational groups and in all the states was recorded. Vacancies in Western Australia fell the most by 8.7 percent, followed by a 8 percent decline in Tasmania.

On a year-over-year basis, vacancies decreased a seasonally adjusted 3.4 percent in May. Deviating from the overall trend, online vacancies in the construction sector and in the medical field rose 34.9 percent and 31.8 percent, respectively, in May.
