France producer prices in the domestic market in May declined from a year ago, figures from the Statistical Office Insee showed Friday.
Producer prices in the French market dropped 0.2 percent year-on-year in May. In April, prices fell 0.9 percent.
On a monthly basis, producer prices dipped 0.5 percent in May, slower than March's 0.2 percent decline. Utility costs declined 3.2 percent, after a 1.6 percent slump in the previous month.
Electricity prices dropped 1.7 percent, following a 1.5 percent decline in the previous month. Food prices slid 0.1 percent, partly reversing a 0.5 percent gain in April.
Total producer prices dropped 0.4 percent monthly in May, after a 0.1 percent fall in April. Annually, prices dropped 0.4 percent.
Producer prices in the foreign market remained flat in May, on a monthly basis, after a 0.1 percent increase in April. The import price index dropped 0.1 percent from the previous month. Year-on-year, import prices declined 2 percent.
