The US Labor Department released its initial jobless claims for the week ended December 13th at 8:30 am ET Thursday. The report showed the jobless claims in the week dropped to 554,000 from the previous week's figure of 573,000. The dollar was little changed against its major rivals following the report. As of 8:30 am ET, the greenback was worth 1.5396 against the pound, 88.52 versus the yen and 1.4632 against the euro.
