The service sector in Australia continued to contract in August, albeit barely, the Australia Industry Group revealed on Wednesday with a performance of service index score of 49.4.
That's up marginally from 49.3 in July, and it remains just under the boom-or-bust score of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
Among the individual components of the survey, both the sales and new orders sub-indexes remained above 50 points in August.
Supplier deliveries, stocks and employment sub-indexes all continued to contract.
